Ghana Celebrates 68th Independence Day: Reflection and Renewal
Ghana's 68th Independence Day celebrations took center stage in the Dormaa Municipality, with a quiz competition among schools and thoughtful speeches from esteemed leaders. The event, held under the theme "Reflect, Review, and Reset," aimed to inspire reflection and renewal among Ghanaians
Rev. Fr. Kingsley Dwamena Asante, Director of Education for Dormaa Central Municipal, set the tone for the event with a candid assessment of Ghana's growth. He lamented the country's stunted progress in various fields, including agriculture, where Ghana still imports onions from neighbouring countries, tooth pick, toilet rolls etc.
Rev fr Asante emphasized the need for reflection, urging Ghanaians to reassess their priorities and strive for self-sufficiency.
Mr. Nai-re P. David, Municipal Coordinating Director and Acting MCE for Dormaa Municipal, echoed sentiments, stressing the importance of reflection in Ghana's development journey. his remarks underscored the need for collective introspection, encouraging Ghanaians to identify areas for improvement and work towards a brighter future.
Baffour Dr. Ing. Srv. Kwadwo Damoah Afari Dormaa Sanaahene and Chairman offered a historical perspective, highlighting the reasons behind European exploration and colonization of Africa. Sanaahene's remarks provided a thought-provoking context for Ghana's Independence Day celebrations, reminding attendees of the country's rich history and the importance of preserving its cultural heritage.
The quiz competition, which pitted schools from the Dormaa Municipality against each other, saw Ansuaa Ababio JHS emerge victorious with 29 points, followed closely by Islamic MA JHS with 28 points. In the debate category, Dormaa SHS took the top spot, outperforming Salvation Army SHS.
